Queen Elizabeth Hospitality and Tourism Institute offer a certificate through 12 months of operational and technical training focused mainly on hotel operational knowledge with key hospitality issues and management definitions.
Throughout the year students will focus on:
- Food and Beverage: including service and bar techniques, wine & beverage knowledge, hygiene, and much more
- Kitchen: including different techniques, meal planning, food knowledge and much more
- Room division: including front office, operations, reservations, different distribution channels, customer service, housekeeping
- Tourism: including Uganda’s history, wildlife
These courses will be reinforced with basic knowledge in General Culture, IT and English geared towards hospitality.
Practical courses will be organized throughout the students’academic career to combine theory and practice and to promote job search at the end of studies. To do this, the QEHTI School will partner with hotels and restaurants within East Africa.
In addition, an exchange project with Swiss students from high hotel / educational studies will be organized to support teaching, train on Western hotel standards and offer enriching experiences to both the Swiss students volunteering and the QEHTI students learning.
